The book takes place in the summer of 1958. Police officer Sergei Vysik learns about the impending murder of the famous Soviet film actor Mark Bernes and begins his own investigation. The novel is based on documentary materials. This book is a continuation of the series of novels by Alexei Birger about the policeman Vysik, begun by the book “Beyond the Wolves.”
