Sangi Vladimir Mikhailovich [18.3.1935, Nabil camp, eastern coast of the island. Sakhalin] - prose writer, poet. The first writer of the small indigenous people of Sakhalin Island (4,500 people in 1985), calling themselves Nivgun (singular - nivn). Sangi's mother belonged to the ancient Nivgun Kewong family. The writer’s date of birth (March 18) is inaccurate, since the question about it arose only at the time of receiving a passport. Working on major literary works, Sangi continues to collect and process various fairy tales and legends, which he includes in almost all collections. The first of them was the collection. fairy tales and autobiographical sketches, processing of the legends “Nivkh Legends” (1961). The appearance of the book was warmly welcomed by K.A. Fedin: “A Nivkh singer has appeared, who opens his soul and heart to another people.” In 1970, a book of stories, short stories and fairy tales “Tyngrai” was published, named after the nickname of the “hero” of one of the stories - the dog Tyng -Raya. A number of works written for children made up the cycle “The Bird of Seven Feathers” (1964), and were also included in the collection “In the Kingdom of the Lords” (1973). The story “The First Shot” tells about the death of a Nivkh and how his young son is forced to take care of his mother, brothers and sisters on his shoulders.
