“New Earth” is a new novel by Arif Aliyev, a famous journalist and screenwriter, one of the creators of such famous films as “Prisoner of the Caucasus”, “Mother”, “Mongol”, “1612”. The death penalty has been abolished all over the world, prisons are overcrowded, and more and more funds are required to maintain prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment. International organizations decide to conduct an experiment, and Russia provides territory in an inaccessible place, on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, where a small settlement is being established with everything necessary for independent life. The first group of prisoners from Russia is transported to the island. After 20 years, in 2033, everyone can apply for a pardon. But on the very first day the massacre begins, the law comes into force: “The last one is dead.”
