"Rhino" is a philosophical allegory by the outstanding French writer Eugene Ionesco, which touches on the topic of mass ideological conformity. The action takes place in a small town, where suddenly the inhabitants one by one begin to turn into rhinoceroses. The main character, Béranger, remains alone against the constant flow of change – perhaps due to a weariness of tradition and a desire to join the larger mass. Ionesco's ironic and psychologically rich work leaves readers with the question: how important is it to remain true to oneself in the conditions of general speculative nonsense?
