The book is devoted to one of the most pressing problems of modern psychology - protective adaptation of the individual in conditions of frustration and stress, as well as the consequences of the systematic use of protective mechanisms for the character of the individual. The main types of stressors and frustrators are described. The leading protective mechanisms of the individual and, in part, of social groups, their interactions and the consequences of their dynamics for both the individual and society are examined in detail. The problem of group and ethnic mental self-defense is put forward, as well as a number of fundamental issues in the theory of frustration and psychological self-defense, as well as characterology. This second volume of the book is entirely devoted to the description and study of defense mechanisms. I hope that on the reader’s table is the most comprehensive and detailed study of defense mechanisms, from interconnections, defense complexes and strategies, and the influence of defense processes on various aspects of personality. The book is intended for psychologists, sociologists, psychiatrists and psychotherapists, as well as for a wider range of people interested in the problems and achievements of modern psychology. The book is published in the author's edition.
