A short story about a man who sees the world like an artist, and about how difficult it is to preserve the fragile beauty of a sensitive soul. The world is merciless towards everything beautiful; this problem is the most important for the main character. Throughout his life, his being is tormented by the soulless, greedy and gloomy part of our world: the suffering of the spirit of civilization is his own suffering. This person chose his own path in the same way that we all make choices every day, doing good or bad, giving our preference to spirit or body. "White crow" who chose the path of suffering voluntarily. Perhaps that is why he goes through life with the stigma of a madman. Whether this is true or not, the doctor of the psychiatric hospital, where the hero ends up by chance, is trying to find out. The artist makes attempts to open the doctor’s dull eyes to the truth or is only trying to present his point of view on it. The doctor soon finds out that this man has a feature hitherto unknown to science.
