Donata Mitaite's book is the first scientific biography of Tomas Venclova, a famous Lithuanian poet of world fame, a brilliant translator, literary critic and professor at Yale University, a thinker and dissident, deprived of Soviet citizenship in 1977, a friend of Joseph Brodsky and Czeslaw Milosz. The book is supplemented with unique photographs from private archives and a selection of interviews with Venclova’s friends - Natalya Gorbanevskaya, Czeslaw Milosz and others.
