This book is a guide to the “Memoirs” of A.D. Sakharov (05/21/1921–12/14/1989), and therefore a guide to the amazing fate of a great scientist and great man - the creator of the most terrible weapon in the history of mankind and at the same time a laureate Nobel Peace Prize. The fate of Sakharov is, one might say, an exciting detective story, a chain of incredible events, but not accidental, but dictated by the genius and fortitude of the protagonist. The theme of the book “Sakharov and Power” acquired new, striking meanings after the “Sakharov” documents of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee and the KGB of the USSR were declassified. “I'm not on the top floor. I’m next to the top floor – on the other side of the window,” Sakharov once joked, referring to the top floor of power. And this joke accurately reflects the uniqueness of his status, which became fate. According to the author, the main narrator is Andrei Dmitrievich Sakharov himself, quotations from whose memoirs alternate with the memories of contemporaries who knew him, reference and documentary material and explanations. The book consists of two volumes and six sections. Epilogue: about the cause of death, national farewell, the religiosity of Sakharov and Einstein, “Sakharov and our difficult today.” The book is equipped with subject and name indexes. The publishing layout is saved in PDF A4 format.
