Continuation of the adventures of the same heroes as in previous books. The world and people of Mistress Verlesa are faced with an increasing terrible threat of aggression from the mighty Lords of the East. The allies refuse help, hoping to sit it out and not wanting to take risks. The guys are forced to go on desperate landings - putting everything on the line. The hero achieves victory, but most of his comrades die in the assaults. Having achieved the salvation of his allies, as well as his world, the Mistress and her people at such a huge price, he gains fame and power, but loses his beloved and friends.
