This amazing and touching story happened quite recently, but it feels like an eternity has already passed. From here it is no longer possible to understand what is true in this fiction and what is not. And where does reality end and fairy tale begin? This is a fairytale. Such a fairy tale told by a grandfather at night to his mischievous grandchildren. But he, too, was once a child, just as mischievous and cheerful. But something happened in his distant, bare-bellied childhood. Something infinitely important was lost there and it worries the old man every day he lives. And how can you return the loss if an abyss of past years separates you from your past childhood? The story “The Last Master of Childhood” in April 2018 was chosen by book experts among the finalists of the liters:samizdat children’s and youth book competition.
