Lidiya Vladimirovna Savelyeva (1937–2021) – great-great-great-granddaughter of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, Doctor of Philology. In her memoirs, she talks about her childhood and growing up in Ukraine, where the family moved in 1939, and about her student years spent at Leningrad University. Recalling the occupation of Poltava by German troops, the post-war school years or university lectures by famous scientists, Lydia Vladimirovna pays a lot of attention to details that help the reader better understand the historical context. An important place in the memoirs is occupied by the author’s understanding of her personal relationship with classical literature, and Savelyeva’s fate itself becomes a clear example of cultural closeness and inextricable connection between the Russian and Ukrainian peoples.
