The section “70 Years of the Warsaw Uprising” contains the story “The Hungarians” by the Polish writer and filmmaker Jerzy Stefan Stawinski (1921–2010). The story is prefaced by an article by Russian historian and translator Viktor Kostevich, “The Burnt Offering of the Romantics,” where he, among other things, writes: ““Hungarians”... look like a frivolous and even anecdotal thing.” And further: “Stefan Stavinsky... did not erect altars and did not smoke incense... He spoke about the feats of his peers in a businesslike manner, sometimes ironically, sometimes caustically and certainly without aspiration.”
