History itself is nothing more than a series of wars, intrigues and accidents. We remember some things thanks to textbooks, books and films, we forget about some things, or rather we don’t know, since the same textbooks and films say little or nothing about them. Such forgotten historical pages include the Battle of the River Vedrosh during the Russian-Lithuanian war of 1500–1503, where Russian troops defeated the united Polish-Lithuanian army. It was this victory that allowed the Grand Dukes of Muscovite Rus' to begin the return of Russian lands captured by Lithuania and Poland in the 13th and 14th centuries.
