Presented monograph by Gasanov G.A. is the first attempt at a comprehensive interdisciplinary study covering the most important issues of the ancient history of Azerbaijan. The monograph reflects problems such as the origin of a country called Azerbaijan and its ruling dynasty. The work presents a concept based on convincing arguments, giving the right to recognize that a country called Azerbaijan was created immediately after the collapse of the Assyrian Empire. Although the title of the work refers to only ten years of history, in fact it covers events that occurred over several centuries before and after these phenomena. The work highlights in detail the image of the prominent Azerbaijani statesman of the ancient period, Atropat, and his collaboration with Alexander the Great. For the first time, science describes in detail the stage-by-stage process of revival of the independent state of Atropatene. Particularly noteworthy is the work’s coverage of the problems of territorial boundaries and the ethnic composition of ancient Media and Atropatena. The book is intended for both specialists and a wide range of readers.
