The subject of this book is Brodsky’s art as a creator of poems, that is, self-sufficient texts, each of which bears the stamp of the author’s individuality. Of the sixteen works by Western Slavists presented in the book, fourteen are devoted to individual poems. Along with detailed historical, cultural and intertextual comments, the reader will find here an in-depth analysis of Brodsky's poetics. Not only the poet’s characteristic versification techniques are explored, but also such unexpected aspects of creativity, such as, for example, the use of musical composition techniques.
