While riding her bike home from work, Debbie accidentally knocks over a passerby. Fortunately, there were no serious consequences, except for an acquaintance, a gift in the form of a new bicycle and an invitation to dinner. Debbie, a modest English teacher at Cambridge, is fascinated by the handsome and suave Italian Pierluigi and his stories about his native Florence - the city of her dreams. What if this is a sign of fate and after a long time of loneliness, Debbie finally met the man she dreamed of? However, Pierluigi is soon forced to leave back to his homeland. The short novel is over, but the desire to see Florence (and, perhaps, her lover) does not leave Debbie - and here she is on the banks of the Arno, under the luxurious Florentine sky, and come what may, because the dream has already half come true...
