Yanka Bryl is a prominent Belarusian writer, the author of many collections of stories and short stories, which deservedly enjoy great love among Soviet readers. His works were published in Russian, in the languages of the peoples of the USSR and abroad. The collection “Tales” includes the best of the works written by the author in different years: “Orphan Bread”, “In the Family”, “Dawn in the Zabolotye”, “On Bystryanka", "Confusion", "Lower Baiduny". Artistically vividly, with great love for people, the author tells about the past and present of the Belarusian people, about the selfless struggle of the underground communists of Western Belarus in bourgeois Poland, about the unfading exploits of the Belarusian partisans during the Great Patriotic War war, about the restoration of the destroyed economy of Belarus in the post-war years.
