In small villages, lost in the mountains of Asia Minor, surrounded on all sides by a hostile pagan culture, lived people who had recently become Christians. Addressing them, Paul wrote a letter that is probably the earliest New Testament document - the Epistle to the Galatians. What problems bothered them? With so many religious authorities preaching religious doctrines, how could they determine who was right? How could these people find peace with God? How can Christians, in the midst of a pagan culture, live a life truly pleasing to God? “There is only one way to do this,” Paul answers, “and that is through Jesus Christ.” His answer applies to us too. Our struggle today takes place under conditions different from those in Paul's time; The details of this struggle have changed, but the principles Paul puts forward are as eternal as the Lord he exalts. In his book, John Stott helps us understand and apply Galatians in the face of the demands placed on us by modern times. John R. W. Stott is a world-renowned Bible expositor, speaker, and writer. Among his many works is the best-selling book The Fundamentals of Christianity. In 1975, John Stott became emeritus pastor of All Souls Church in London. He is currently Director of the London Institute of Contemporary Christianity, and is also Vice-President of the International Fellowship of Christian Students (IFES).
