Readers are offered the memoirs of General Pyotr Nikolayevich Wrangel, covering the period from 1916, the eve of the revolution, to 1920, when, at the last stage of the Civil War in Russia, P.N. Wrangel became commander-in-chief of the White Russian Army. Unique memoirs were published in the series “Chronicle of the White Struggle” shortly after the death of P.N. Wrangel, edited by A.A. von Lampe. They confirm the validity of the motto of this ancient baronial family, which always put honor above all else: “I perish, but I do not give up.” The book reproduces the text published by the Posev publishing house in 1969 in Germany from a copy of the memoirist’s daughter, Baroness Elena Petrovna Meyendorff. The book is 3 the second in the publishing project “Memoirs and Diaries”, implemented by the publishing house “Tsentrpoligraf” together with the Russian Assembly of Nobility. Like the entire series, it is intended for a wide range of readers interested in Russian history, as well as for government and socio-political figures, involved in the formation of new spiritual values of a resurgent Russia.
