The book offered to the reader continues the series “Russia - the path through the centuries.” It is dedicated to the period from 1725 to 1762, aptly called by V. O. Klyuchevsky “the era of palace revolutions.” In 37 years, six rulers replaced the throne. All of them came to power as a result of intrigues between warring noble factions, with the guard playing the main role. During these years, Russia fought difficult wars, the nobility sought to expand its rights, the situation of the peasants worsened, and governments spent their meager budgets on entertaining the sovereigns. However, during these same years, the development of the Far East continued, new educational institutions were opened, science and art developed. The book continues to acquaint readers with Russian history.
