One of the world's most famous belly dancers, American Tamalin Dallal, goes on an exotic journey. Her goal is to understand the soul of the dance to which she dedicated her life, and therefore to look into the eyes of the always mysterious Asia. Tamalin begins her journey from the Indonesian Banda Aceh, which has been dancing its “thousand hands” dance for centuries, from there she goes to the heart of the Sahara - the oasis of Siwa , where the sands of the White Desert sing their eternal songs to the sound of a reed flute. And then - to distant Zanzibar, an island whose past still lives under the sun, washed by the waves, and whose present is drowned in a narcotic dope. Then Tamalin visits Jordan and Xinjiang - the westernmost province of China. The fascinating story of modern Scheherazade, woven from a thousand and one stories about the everyday life of modern Asia, is sometimes shocking, sometimes amazing, but always causes amazement and delight.
