Young British writer Dan Rhodes has published two collections of short stories and a novel. This is where he intends to end his writing career. “Anthropology” is his first book, it is made up of short stories, the content often reminiscent of children's horror stories or sadistic rhymes. The whole book is a continuous formal experiment: the texts are arranged alphabetically, there are a hundred and one stories in total, and each contains exactly one hundred and one words. But behind this game a completely unexpected image of a lyrical hero emerges - tender, reverent, vulnerable, naive and sentimental. It’s not for nothing that Rhodes calls himself an “incurable romantic.” Neither formalism nor the traditions of English nonsense can hide the undoubted fact that Anthropology is a book about love.
