Автор майстерно розкриває характери своїх персонажів, надаючи їм не лише сили, але й вразливості, що робить їх надзвичайно реалістичними. Читачі зможуть відчути напругу та емоції, які супроводжують героїв у їхній подорожі, а непередбачувані повороти сюжету тримають у напрузі до останньої сторінки. Порівняння з "Хроніками Амбера" абсолютно виправдане, адже Ніланд вміло поєднує елементи фентезі та драми, створюючи епічний наратив.
