Alexander Nevsky is one of the most controversial figures of the Russian Middle Ages. The prince's ability to solve complex "political equations" earned him the respect of his contemporaries and descendants. However, this same quality of his became the reason for accusations of unprincipledness and even betrayal of the interests of Rus'. Over the centuries, the political biography of the prince has acquired very bizarre layers of “narrative”. In historical memory, the documentary basis of knowledge about the life and deeds of Alexander Nevsky turned out to be almost completely hidden by texts and artistic images of later origin. Revealing these layers, separating historical facts from hypotheses is the goal of the new book by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor V.V. Dolgova.
