The study is devoted to the development of the early statehood of the Goths in Eastern Europe in the 3rd-4th centuries. Particular attention is paid to two Gothic pre-state formations (polities): Gothia of the Tervingi and the Kingdom of the Grevtungs. For the first time in domestic and foreign historiography, a comparison is made between these two Gothic polities and their general comparison with the Slavic polities of the same period. The use in the work of an almost complete set of written sources on Gothic history, a critical approach to research in recent years, as well as methods of foreign and domestic polyanthropology allowed the author to make his contribution to solving the problems of the era of late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages, which gave grounds to shift the time of the appearance of the first Proto-Slavic potestars formations in Eastern Europe approximately in the 2nd century. and put forward your own concept of early statehood. The work is intended for specialists involved in the problems of late Antiquity, the era of the Great Migration of Nations and the early Middle Ages, as well as for a wide range of readers.
