After the successful First Crusade and the creation of the Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem, a stream of pilgrims poured into the Holy Land, eager to venerate Christian shrines. Of course, the large groups of people traveling through Palestine fueled the Muslims with a sense of revenge for the seizure of their ancestral territories and cities. Pilgrims were exposed to mortal danger. Several knights of high origin, having received the blessing of the king and the Church, took upon themselves the care of the protection of pilgrims and all Christians who moved in large numbers throughout the Holy Land. This is how the Order of the Templars arose - the army of Christ, this monastic community united monks and warriors.
