Lieutenant General Mikhail Fedorovich Lukin is one of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The troops of the armies he commanded bravely and courageously fought with superior enemy forces in Smolensk and on the immediate approaches to it, near Vyazma. Having been captured unconscious and wounded in the leg and arm, General Lukin survived the horrors of the Nazi camps, steadfastly endured all hardships, remaining a faithful son of the Motherland.
