The book contains two interconnected studies. One of them is dedicated to the essay of Metropolitan Stefan Yavorsky, containing a protest against the establishment of the Synod. Here the polemical elements of the work are analyzed and Yavorsky’s church-political attitudes throughout his life are reviewed. The second study examines the history of the rite of election and installation of a bishop in the Petrine era. A number of texts are published in the appendix: Yavorsky’s “Apology”, his sermon on the day of Alexei the Man of God in 1712, and other texts. Publications are provided with historical and philological commentary.

Книга "З церковної історії часів Петра Великого" є надзвичайно цінним джерелом для всіх, хто цікавиться історією церкви в Україні та Росії в епоху Петра I. Дослідження митрополита Стефана Яворського, представлене в першій частині, розкриває глибокі полемічні аспекти його твору, що є важливим свідченням боротьби за церковну автономію в умовах політичного тиску. Автор детально аналізує не лише сам текст, а й контекст, у якому він був написаний, що робить цю частину книги особливо цінною для дослідників. Друга частина, присвячена обранню та постачанню архієреїв, дає змогу заглянути в складні механізми церковного управління того часу. Додатки з текстами Яворського та коментарями надають додаткову глибину і контекст, що робить цю книгу не лише корисною, а й надзвичайно цікавою для читача. Рекомендую всім, хто прагне краще зрозуміти складні процеси, що відбувалися в церкві в епоху великих змін.
