La conquista del Peru, llamada la Nueva Castilla is the first report published in Europe on the conquest of the Inca Empire, compiled by a direct eyewitness and participant in the events. The probable author of the book is the Spanish conquistador Cristobal de Mena. The report consists of 8 sheets. It was first published in April 1534. The book describes in detail the ransom of Atahualpa, the treasures of the Pachacamac temple, the features of the Inca weapons, and provides a number of important information about the socio-economic structure of the Inca state.
