When German troops captured the Catherine Palace, the former residence of the Russian tsars, in the summer of 1941, a fierce struggle broke out for the Amber Room. First, the cruel Gauleiter Koch managed to get hold of it and install it in his residence in Königsberg. However, due to Allied air raids on Königsberg, it had to be dismantled and hidden in a secret adit where Hitler kept works of art stolen during the war. After the war, the room disappeared under mysterious circumstances. No other art theft is shrouded in such mystery as the disappearance of the Amber Room, that “sunstone” hall steeped in legend. The author conducted an investigation and traced the path of the Amber Room. The novel describes true events that will take your breath away.
