Non-commissioned officer Günther Bahneman, a holder of the Iron Cross, a messenger at the headquarters of a tank division in Rommel's Afrika Korps, having learned that his father had been executed in a concentration camp, decided that the war was over for him. And, taking with him the most necessary things, he left the camp and headed into the desert. Now everyone has become his enemy: the Germans and Italians looking for the deserter, and the British fighting the enemy.
