The great Irish writer George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950) is a playwright, prose writer, essayist, one of the theater reformers of the 20th century, a promoter of the drama of ideas, who made a striking contribution to the creation of the “foundation” of English drama. In the history of British theater, only a few playwrights are considered great, and Bernard Shaw rightfully takes his place in this rank. There are many amazing events in his biography; he even traveled around the world. The collected works of Bernard Shaw occupy 36 large volumes. In 1925, the writer was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. The most beloved among fans of his talent was the “anti-romantic” comedy “Pygmalion” (1913), written for actress Patrick Campbell. Later, based on this play, the musical “My Fair Lady” and even a ballet film with the brilliant E. Maksimova and M. Liepa were created.
