Gabriel Ferri (real name Eugene-Louis-Gabriel de Bellemare; 1809–1852) is a French writer, one of the creators of the genre of adventure-colonial novel. He spent many years in Mexico, which became the setting for most of his works. Lively descriptions of a semi-wild rich country, a real paradise for adventurers of all kinds, as well as charming images of the lords of the Mexican forests, fearless Canadian hunters, French by blood, adventurers by vocation, fabulously rich gold miners, brought their author well-deserved, albeit posthumous, fame. A tragic disaster (a fire at sea) cut short the writer’s life. This volume publishes the ending of the adventure novel “The Forest Tramp”. The perilous journeys of two inseparable friends capture the imagination of readers of all ages. The action takes place in a wild mountainous country in northwestern Mexico, where Don Esteban's expedition sets off in search of gold.
