About the collection The collection presents logical problems formulated in the form of miniature stories about the famous heroes of the English writer Arthur Conan Doyle, detective Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. As a rule, in miniature, an interested person tells Sherlock Holmes about an event. Sometimes Holmes finds a contradiction in the narrator’s words (meaning a fact whose probability of manifestation in life is zero percent) and on its basis draws a conclusion about the veracity or falsity of the story. Sometimes from a story Holmes draws the only possible conclusion for real life that explains the problem. To solve the problem, you must find in the text of the miniature the contradiction that served as Holmes’ starting point in his reasoning, or, restoring the chain of reasoning of the famous detective, draw for Holmes the only possible conclusion that explains the miniature problem. Good luck, dear reader.
