Memoirs of a member of the group of black diggers, Fox, on whose behalf the story is told, takes the reader back to the very end of the 80s and early 90s of the twentieth century. But the events taking place in the country, during the difficult time of the collapse of the USSR and the revival of Russia, are mentioned only in passing. The main actions take place in the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War, where looters rampaged. Fox talks about himself and his friends, rallying around the main character of the story, the leader of a group of blacks, Rolfe. The story "Black" is completely fictional. The characters have no living prototypes.
