Basic physical principles of work of quantum-cascade lasers (ККЛ) working from the средневолнового range of infra-red spectrum to the терагерцевого range of frequencies are briefly considered. Unique properties come into question radiations of ККЛ, being the ground of the most preferable their application domains. Numerous examples of application of ККЛ and devices are made on their basis in the different spheres of activity.
