Jews are not a geographical concept, but an ethnographic one. The events described in this book are not a scientific treatise on the history of the settlement of Jews in Crimea at the dawn of the formation of Soviet power, far from it. The author tried to talk about various episodes from that time, some of which, at first glance, are not directly related to the life of Jewish settlers on the peninsula. In the Soviet state, the “Jewish question” underwent amazing metamorphoses. It so happened that Joseph Stalin turned out to be a kind of catalyst in the “Jewish question” at that time. There were a great many questions related to the resettlement of Jews to Crimea and the organization of their autonomy, sometimes incomprehensible and, in many ways, unsolvable... And decades passed, time had to put everything in its place, give answers to the main questions: why it didn’t work out , and who is to blame... It’s strange, but to this day there is no firm answer to this question...
