The book presented to the reader is not a novel or a story, but rather a detailed document of events, impressions and reflections associated with the formation and difficult development in domestic cosmonautics of a new direction in control and navigation systems, based on the use of digital electronics and on-board computing machines, of which the author was a direct participant.

The book is based on projects in the field of space exploration carried out in the country and at the head enterprise of the country's space industry - OKB-1, the founder of which was S.P. Korolev ( hereafter TsKBEM, NPO Energia, JSC RSC Energia named after S.P. Korolev).

The book is based on real documents, including those that could not be previously published, chronological diary entries and extracts from the author’s memory, conversations with a few participants in the work and events of that time, as well as published materials of people who created computer equipment at other enterprises in the rocket and space industry.
