The epic of a group of Russian colonists who went to Paraguay, among whom I was, was described in detail by me in the late thirties; these essays, under the general title “Paraguayan Hope,” were then published in the newspaper “Russian in Argentina.” But the periodical press is a poor custodian of what it publishes, and now only two or three copies of these essays (in newspaper clippings) have survived. This book is a revised edition of “The Paraguayan Hope,” which I have cut almost in half, leaving out everything topical. , which has lost its relevance and now has no public or historical interest. I dedicate this modest work to all participants in the events described here.
