Family chronicles against the background of a village, a city, war and peace. The history of the family begins in the last decades of the 19th century. The heroes of the story live in the Tver province, in the famous village of Edimonovo, located on the banks of the Volga, 30 miles from the city of Tver. A young peasant Alexei Mordaev works as a groom on the estate of Baron Korf and marries a fellow villager. The young family begins to live according to the rules adopted in the Russian patriarchal village: from an early age they instill in them the habit of work, and try, if possible, to give them a way into the big world. The history of the family was continued in the destinies of their children and grandchildren, intertwined with the history of the country. None of them escaped the difficult trials that befell our people in the 20th century. All men, as befits real men, fought in the Great Patriotic War. Women selflessly carried on their shoulders the care of raising children, maintaining order and peace in the family in accordance with the concepts and rules inherited from their ancestors.
