Xanthippe is the wife of the Greek philosopher Socrates, known for her bad character. Her name became a household name for grumpy and bad wives. However, in order to justify Xanthippe, we must remember that it was very difficult for this woman to understand the goals that her strange husband pursued in life. He was, indeed, a great sage, but his outward behavior could seem like sheer extravagance. And although Xanthippe benefited little from the clear wisdom of her famous husband, she was always faithful to him and supported him in the last minutes of his life.
