The Great Seyazha, once united and strong, has just begun to be reborn after the two-century bloody yoke of the Karharn steppe inhabitants, who conquered half the world and threw their lasso over hundreds of nations. But one fine day, a strange guest comes to the skilled gunsmith and goldsmith Foka, who lives peacefully with his family in the capital city of Seyazhsk and, having paid generously, asks to forge a gold brooch for his sweetheart. Without knowing it, the blacksmith finds himself drawn into a vile conspiracy in which seditious boyars, nomads and, of course, power-hungry princes are intertwined like poisonous snakes.
