The journey of the Counts du Nord (Northern) to Venice in 1782 and the celebrations held in their honor is a historical fact. This episode is found in all books on Venetian history. Giacomo Casanova lived in Venice at that time. The denunciations they addressed to the inquisitors are today stored in the Venetian State Archives. His life and condition of that period are presented in letters written to him by his last Venetian companion Francesca Buschini after his second exile (letters published). It is also known that Casanova visited Russia in 1765 and met the young crown prince in St. Petersburg (this episode described in his memoirs "The Story of My Life"). Unfortunately, Casanova did not talk about the Comtes du Nord's journey to Venice in his autobiography: it is interrupted in 1774.
