Moscow-Lithuanian border wars of the late 15th - first third of the 16th century. hacked the geopolitical situation of Eastern Europe. The book is dedicated to the least studied - the first of them. It determined the strategy of relations between neighboring states, the ideology of the Russian state, which proclaimed the program of collecting Russian lands of the BKL. The author applied a historical and geographical approach to the sources, drawing conclusions about the course of military operations, their direction, determining territorial losses, regions of the next conflict. Military actions revealed the border - the first line of defense of the Great Patriotic War, attention to its configuration and terrain made it possible to understand the intentions of the parties. For the first time, methods of warfare were analyzed - intimidation of the population, suppression of trade, raids, weakening centers of power, attracting local princes, seizures and colonization of lands; fighting took a subordinate place. The difficult international and internal situation did not allow the war to be waged openly, giving it a “strange” character.
