The book “Under the Banner of Wrangel” contains the memoirs of Colonel I.M. Kalinin, a participant in the First World War, who was repressed in 1937 for his “participation” in the White emigrant movement. The book describes the evacuation from Crimea during the Civil War and life in military camps abroad, as well as the place and significance of the Don Cossacks in the Russian army of General P.N. Wrangel. A professional military lawyer who sincerely welcomed the fall of the monarchy in Russia in 1917, but by the will of fate found himself in the camp of the Whites, I.M. Kalinin never joined any of the warring parties. This allowed him to describe one of the most difficult political conflicts in the history of Russia as objectively as possible, without any ideological overtones. The book was republished with the maximum possible preservation of the author's spelling and punctuation.
