Father Alexander Men (1935–1990) – archpriest, theologian, preacher, author of many books about religion. He was not just a priest, but in a sense the spiritual father of an entire generation. At his sermon in a church near Moscow, people gathered from all over the vast country, many came from abroad. The title of the book, compiled by Yuri Pasternak, refers to “The Little Flowers of Francis of Assisi,” a medieval collection of folk legends about the naive and wise founder of the order of mendicant monks. Father Alexander's openness, his charm, charisma, inner strength, and most importantly - his ability and willingness to find a common language with everyone, regardless of education and social status - all this continues to delight and attract people even after his martyrdom. The book contains the memories of those , who personally knew Father Alexander. Among the authors are writers Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Fazil Iskander and Lyudmila Ulitskaya, philologists Sergei Averintsev and Vyacheslav V. Ivanov, actor Sergei Yursky, bard and dissident Alexander Galich, conductor Vladimir Spivakov, director and screenwriter Andrei Smirnov and many others.
