Humanity is faced with a problem that threatens its existence. The number of suicides is growing at an unimaginable rate from year to year. A new inexplicable attack affects the brain and central nervous system, leaving a person no chance. Medicine was unable to find the cause of the new disease, and sociology also turned out to be powerless. According to scientists, there are several decades left during which the world community must either defeat the new disease or disappear from the face of the earth. Oddly enough, the closest person to understanding the nature of the dangerous phenomenon is physicist Michael Garrison. His research and work inspire hope, but very shortly before the expected result should appear, he disappears, leaving a note to his family that he could not do otherwise. They are looking for him, but the new disease disappears as unexpectedly as it appeared. The search is being curtailed. Brother Brian takes up the search. Along the way, he hopes to find an explanation for Michael’s action.
