This book tells about the events of 1942–1945 that took place in the northeast of our country. There, between Siberia and Alaska, there was an air route connecting two continents, two allied powers, the Soviet Union and the United States of America. In accordance with the Lend-Lease agreement, American aircraft were transported along it for the Eastern Front. On airplanes, due to severe frosts that reached 60–65 degrees Celsius, rubber hoses cracked, and the liquid in hydraulic systems turned into jelly, sealing the pipelines. Only top-class professionals could fly in fog and low clouds, knowing that there were no navigation systems at the airfields. Flying along the polar route in inhumane conditions, Soviet pilots showed miracles of heroism. Each of their flights was a feat. Talking about the events of that time, the author reveals true historical facts. The heroes who ferried planes from Alaska to Chukotka, their life stories and incidents from flight practice are not made up or embellished. Even the names of the participants in those events have been preserved in most cases.
