The story “Water with Syrup” (“Voda se šťávou”) was published in 1994 in the collection “Shit is Burning” (“Hovno hoří”). This is less a story than a collection of short stories. It is not subject to annotation, because if you start talking about “what it’s about,” you end up with “about time and about yourself.” To form an opinion about the text, I will cite an excerpt that has been widely distributed on the Internet:
"It was at that time that several of the most idiotic games were invented and tested on us. Some of them I cannot understand to this day. Perhaps the most limitless game for survival there was an electrical box with the instructive name “Stand with it, pioneer!” The picture on the box depicted two young people - one of them shocked the other, and the second smiled happily. According to the instructions, one simply picked up two exposed wires, and the other enlarged it. the strength of the current. It could twist in such a way that it would not seem like much: some pioneers put it under the Christmas tree."
