Will global warming bring a new ice age to Europe? For years, this idea was ridiculed as pure science fiction, much like the idea that there could be any global warming at all. But, as often happens, reality caught up with the fantasy faster than anyone could have expected. At the 2003 UN climate conference in Milan, scientist Jonathan Bamber of the University of Bristol explained to his audience the exact mechanism described in the previous story. He predicted that - if the polar ice caps melt as much as they have in recent years due to global warming - the weather in Europe, after a transition period of five unusually warm decades, will very quickly turn towards cold and glaciation. The following story is set by Jean-Marc Ligny also takes place against the backdrop of climate change, in one of the decades of warmth. Jean-Marc Ligny is a well-known author in France who writes in the genre of science fiction. If you ask a Frenchman to make a list of the ten best SF authors, Ligny will certainly be on it - even if the list is reduced to the top five or even the top three. Jean-Marc Ligny was born in 1956 in Paris and was already interested in science fiction from the age of eight. When he was twenty, he, realizing that he would not make a rock guitarist, began to write, published his first story in 1978, and a year later, in the Denoél publishing house, his first novel, Temps Blancs, which immediately attracted attracted the attention of critics. Several years and several novels later, Jean-Marc Ligny made two vital decisions: first, to “emigrate” to Brittany, and second, to concentrate only on writing. To date, more than fifty stories and about thirty novels by Ligny have been published, published by the publishing houses “Denoél”, “J’ai Lu”, “Fleuve Noir”, etc., more than ten of these novels are addressed to youth. Along with this, he compiled two international anthologies of erotic science fiction - the first, Cosmic Erotica, with an exclusively female composition of authors, the second, Eros Millenium, with an exclusively male composition. Jean-Marc Ligny received all the most important awards that can be received in France in the field of fantastic literature. The palette of sources of his inspiration is rich: from music and history - the novels “Furia!” and “Le Mort Peut Danser” - before esotericism and ethnology - the works of “Yurlunggur” and “Yoro Sil”. The range of genres is also wide. Between fantasy, such as the young adult novel Les Ailes noires de la nuit, and hard cyberpunk (for example, Cyberkiller or the novel Inner City), you can find almost all types of science fiction literature. he never forgets that at the center of any fantasy novels there are always people - people and love...
